Music Projects

Below is a small selection of my music that best showcases my abilities.

Project 1

About

Date completed

May, 2024

This track is a part of my Final Major Project that I completed earlier this year. I set myself a brief to create music to three different video game scenes with this one being for the game "Lies of P". As it was for the opening cutscene, the music is cinematic, and I opted to use orchestral instruments to reflect the gothic tone of the game. I recorded a double bass and violin for this track, with both instruments elevating the sound and involving collaboration with two string players. I also wrote sheet music for the two string players to play to. This work is a representation of my main artistic focus of scoring video games.

Project 2

About

This track responds to a brief set by two composers who have been commissioned to create a soundscape for Exeter Cathedral's new gallery space. Through collaboration with the college, these composers wanted several students to create their own interpretation of a soundscape or musical soundscape to reflect some part of the Cathedral with the end goal for these creations to be incorporated into their larger soundscape or in a listening booth setting. We were also given free reign over multiple days to record various parts of the cathedral to use in our creations, capturing reverb and natural audio as part of this process. I opted to create a musical soundscape centred around the cathedral's journey through time, reflecting this with the gradual layered addition of arpeggiated synths and orchestral instruments intertwined with recordings of voices and audio from the building. I created all of the synth sounds myself using retro synth in Logic. Although this work does not represent my main artistic focus of scoring to video games, it demonstrates range in my instrumentation and my ability to respond to a professionally set brief.

Project 3

About

This track is one I created with the video game "FAR: Lone Sails" as inspiration, with the feeling of travelling and adventure being something I wanted to convey through my music. My use of syncopated Latin percussion and progression from opening piano motif to soaring strings giving a sense of motion throughout the piece.  I also had the opportunity to collaborate with an opera singer in the music department, the process providing valuable recording and mixing experience. For the vocal recording session I had the singer improvise several themes alongside my track which I then edited and weaved into the final production. The addition of the vocals elevated the track adding to the sense of flowing movement. This piece again represents my main artistic focus of scoring video games.

Project 4

About

This track is a new composition replacing the original music from the game "Assassins Creed Revelations", with this particular cutscene depicting a fight scene. I opted to score to this in order to practice composing to video games, and used orchestral instruments to reflect the historical nature of the game. This piece represents my main artistic focus of scoring video games.
